The Broward VITA Collaborative consists of premier agencies involved with the VITA program in Broward County to include HandsOn Broward, Children’s Services Council, Minority Development and Empowerment Inc., Hispanic Unity of Florida, United Way of Broward County, IRS. Through a grant from Comcast, HandsOn Broward is able to offer the Digital Connectors Program to at-promise youth looking to serve their communities through technology and leadership. Our current program engages teens and young adults, ages 14–21, in leadership development, digital education, life skills management and community service. By learning and involving themselves in their respective communities, taking field trips and hearing from emerging leaders, youth are able to hone technical competencies and grasp lifelong principles that inspire educational advancement and workforce preparation.

Our innovative coaching program helps make saving for emergencies, reducing debt, building assets, and creating a plan toward long-term financial health possible for people regardless of their income. HandsOn Broward is one of ten sites selected nationwide to launch the FOC initiative. Broward’s FOC is part of a public-private partnership with Bank of America, Points of Light and the Corporation for National and Community Service. This program reflects the principles of President Obama’s task force on expanding national service and we look forward to empowering our community volunteers to create a sustainable, homegrown program that will help the overall community of Broward County thrive.
